I believe that leaders are the key to school improvement. Each day is critical in the life of a learner, and I believe that leaders have the responsibility to implement conditions and nurture cultures that result in high expectations for all. Students do not have a chance in their lifetime to “do school over.” Throughout my 19 years as a high school and middle school principal, I have embraced distributing leadership to teachers, students, parents and community to engage all stakeholders in student achievement and have based my career on the premise of continuous improvement to get desired results. In my role at GLISI, I work to help leaders evaluate the needs within their districts and schools, and support them with research, knowledge and tools for best practices in leadership. Georgia education leaders have my commitment to work with them in our changing conditions and to help them analyze and create strategic initiatives for continued and future student achievement.
