I believe that success in school improvement lies with the leader and a new leader needs to have the proper knowledge, skills and opportunities to practice that can only come from performance-based learning. While knowledge-based learning provides the deep learning that emerging leaders need to make good decisions, theory without relevant practice with feedback does not effectively prepare new leaders to perform at high levels. Working alone, neither knowledge-based nor performance-based prepares leaders to perform at their best in new leadership positions. Together no combination is more effective. I believe GLISI’s approach solidifies this pairing, offering leaders opportunities to demonstrate both their knowledge and skill.

Using my expertise as a teacher, instructional lead teacher, assistant principal and as a successful school principal, I provide support to districts to help their new leaders demonstrate competency in critical leadership tasks and help them create a team-based environment to ensure that all students achieve at high levels. Customizing leadership experiences designed to meet both district and individual leadership needs creates opportunities for new leaders to “hit the halls running” when they are appointed to new leadership roles. This work is what I have both experience in and passion for creating the perfect environment for success.
