I believe that school leaders must be accountable for the success or failure of the teachers and students in their schools. Although they do not often teach in the classroom, school leaders demonstrate their beliefs about teaching and learning every day in the way they choose to spend their time and the things they choose to focus on. My passion is to help school leaders improve school performance by adjusting the ways that they use processes and documents to influence the events and groups with whom they work.

My experiences at the school and district level have enabled me to create tools and develop strategies that can help school and district level leaders improve the pedagogy of their teachers, identify key processes, and design and implement ways to monitor those strategies. Through my work with continuous improvement plans and balanced scorecards, I learned the importance of spending time on planning and designing documents and processes that are nested and aligned. I enjoy developing visual data displays and strategy maps because I know how powerful they are in conveying information and helping teachers to understand the need for change.
